Forest Creatures

The old man of the forest
A vase for flowers
A turtle, a bird
a knothole that sort of
looks like something,
we carve and scrape
and cut.
Forest People emerge
and we laugh
imagine what they say
what they do
as they appear.
New ones arrive
Old ones lost
that didn't work
after all.
The dog chewed two.
One was ran over.
Another burned by mistake.
They are out there...
hiding among the trees
waiting for discovery.

  1. This photo is very impressive if a little large. This is how large my photos come off my digital camera so I always reduce them. But you can see the photo by moving beyond the blog space on my computer. Combined with the poem this header is eerie, I loved the effect of the whole thing.

  2. I see you managed to get the header photo off perhaps to try to reduce the size, but when you put one on why don't try to have the writing too, or the photo will not take. You have to choose either the writing or the photo. Doc's computer will sometimes pick up both but not mine. So I just click the without the writing as when you click on the picture the name shows up and it also shows at the top.

  3. I have saved about four,of your blogspots, so get the archive everytime. Don't know what to delete. As I said, the delete button terrifys me as I am sure I"ll lose something I want. Oh to be relly computer savvy.

I love your blog done in poetry. I have a copy of a book of woodland faces that is very nice if you should run out of forest creature subjects. I'm sure you wont as you spend so much time in the summer in one of the most beautiful forests in the world. Keep up the great work
