OLD LADY BIKE

My new mode of travel
now grandkids are in school
not needing tending
and I need to run to the
post office or store,
is the Old Lady Bike.

Now some people I know
wouldn't be caught dead
on the 'adult tricycle',
but I like returning
to childhood as I
pump around town
looking at flowers
checking if a new pup
is around...buying
a couple of things to
haul around.

My son and grandchildren
bought me the bike
for my birthday,
the kids thinking
I could haul
water and food when
we rode bikes to
the park -
not that I might
fall off on my head
from my 25 year old dog.

I like not using gas,
making my knees work
to become more limber,
feeling my heart race
trying to go too fast uphill:
living longer.

Since I have no pride
about appearing old
and peddle around town,
other older people
appear on bikes
peddling...oh not the men
just the ladies on their
Old Lady Bikes.

  1. Your sister made me look at your photo and the resemblance is frightening. You could actually be your sister. Incidentally I want you to know that as my one and only fan, I would appreciate it greatly if you would let me die first because if you do I will have no fans. I see you have given up horses for bicycles. May I add those are the largest training wheels I have ever seen. Keep viewing! You never know what will happen.

  2. I know. Once we were in a store and a man stopped and asked me how I changed clothes so fast as I would walk by then Gerry did. He thought we were the same person!
As for dying...please don't until you have drawn a few more hundred pictures! Get them out there to view! You are an artist.

  3. I like your old lady bike. You look cute as can be with it beside you. I would buy one but where I live I would be run over in a thrice.I;m still trying to get my nerve up to used the carts at Costco. It's such a big darn place. Still I'm afraid I my knock over their displays or the sample giving ladies. I'm used to my car but motorized carts? Not.
